The Three Cities offer an intriguing insight into Malta and its history. Left largely unvisited, these cities are a slice of authentic life as well as a glimpse into Malta's maritime fortunes.

The archaeological treasures of Malta are famous the world over. For three millennia, from around 5200 B.C., the archipelago was home to a unique, temple-building civilisation.

The history of Mdina, also referred to as the silent city, dates back more than 4000 years. According to tradition it was here that in 60 AD St. Paul is said to have lived after being shipwrecked on the Islands.

The Maltese are among the oldest Christian peoples in the world. St Paul, shipwrecked as a captive en route to Rome in A.D. 60, brought Christianity to Malta.

The picturesque fishing village of Marsaxlokk on the southern tip of Malta is a great place to visit. For a genuinely Mediterranean experience, stroll along the quay, chat with the fishermen and eat lunch at one of the harbourside restaurants.

Gozo, meaning joy in Castilian, is the second largest island of the Maltese archipelago, with a population of approximately 30,000. Though separated from mainland Malta by a 5km stretch of sea, Gozo is distinctly different from Malta.
