During the Prehistoric Temples Tour a guide will take you first to Tarxien, where the Megalithic Temples are located, that date back to 3000 BC. The UNESCO named these temples as a World Heritage Site in 1980. The Tarxien consist of three temples that are individual, yet allied with each other. These temples seem to have been used for rituals with most likely animal sacrifices.
The tour continues to Ghar Dalam, also called "The Cave of Darkness", located in the outskirts of Malta. It has fossils of prehistoric animals dating back to the glacial period. After this impressive experience the tour will end by visiting the Prehistoric Temple of Hagar Qim that dates back to 3500 and 3000 BC. The temple is exclusively built with globigerina limestone and was excavated in 1839. The temple nowadays has a temple building and façade, a trilithon entrance, a bench and large vertical stones.
