Caring for destination

This tour provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.

Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:

Our focus is on environmental and socio-cultural improvements.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

Want to experience a day as a local shepherd on one of the Maltese islands?
This memorable activity offers the opportunity to learn about the socio-cultural aspect of a shepherd in Gozo while helping to preserve the local environment together with this non-governmental and non-profit organisation. Engage in discussions and debates during the tour to promote and implement the values of responsibility and respect towards traditions and culture in an ecologically sustainable society. The highlights you will experience are the people, the tradition of hospitality, the culture and the countryside of this beautiful island.

Further, Ager Foundation stabilises the irregular seasonality of tourism on the island by investing in agro tourism, which does not depend on holiday seasons. To lower the environmental impact on the coast they organise tours in the countryside.

Pickup info: Please note that travelling to Gozo takes about 2 hours from St. Julian's to Gozo by bus and ferry. The bus takes about 1 hour to Cirkewwa and costs about € 2 euro per person.
