Pickup info: Please note that travelling to Gozo takes about 2 hours from St. Julian's to Gozo by bus and ferry. The bus takes about 1 hour to Cirkewwa and costs about € 2 euro per person. From Cirkewwa to Mgarr (Gozo) you will need to take the ferry, which costs about € 4,65 per person for a return ticket.

Gozo Shepherd Experience

During the ‘Experience a day as a local shepherd' tour you will step into a peaceful world of the local Gozitan who lives his life as a shepherd and produces traditional cheese. During this activity you will see how the farmer and his herd live their tranquil life in the countryside of Gozo, Malta. What makes this activity so interesting and enjoyable is the fact that one will be actively participating in feeding and milking the sheep and making traditional Gozitan cheese. During this day you will also enjoy an authentic lunch with local products and a traditional Gozitan dish and homemade wine. This tour ensures an unforgettable experience.

Itinerary

Start tour at 9 am
- Meeting Ager Foundation personnel
- Welcome; homemade coffee and homemade biscuits with host family
- Light work on the farm, feeding animals (rabbits, hens, goats and sheep) and milking sheep
- Authentic lunch accompanied by homemade wine with host family
- Actively participate in the cheese making process
- Shearing of sheep (this used to be seasonal, but we now give this opportunity all year round)
- Afternoon Tea/Coffee (which you may not feel up to after all that wine!)
- Meeting Ager Foundation personnel again for feedback/evaluation
