Itinerary

Our first tour takes us from Bugibba through Burmarad and the edge of Mosta heading for Rabat and the impressive Verdala palace.

The palace, built by the knights of Malta in 1586 is known for it’s Boschetto, a large semi-landscaped area that was previously used by the knights for game hunting. During French rule of the island the palace was used by Napoleon as a military prison. It is now the summer residence of the Maltese president.

After viewing this wonderful palace, your guide will lead you on to Buskett gardens. Overlooked by Verdala palace, Buskett is the only wooded area in Malta with beautiful orange, lemon and lime groves. You can walk the pathways lined with Ivy-clad walls or venture into the Mediterranean pine woodland.

Next stop is Misrah Gher-il-Kbir (informally know as Clapham Junction). It is best know for it’s Cart ruts, a complex netwrk of tracks gouged into the rock. Some crossing others, forming junctions giving the illusion of a huge railway switching yard. Belived to date back to 2000 B.C. The origin and purpose of the tracks remains a mystery.

From here we move to back to Rabat where we will stop in local cafe bar for typical Maltese refreshment – ‘hobz biz zjet’ and Kinnie – herbal Maltese soft drink or drink of your choice. After taking your time we push-on to beautiful Mdina - ‘The Silent City’ and Malta’s old capitol in the days before Valletta. Enjoy the extraordinary architecture, narrow streets and a spectacular view of the Maltese landscape.

After spending some time in this wonderful city we head back to Bugibba where our tour ends and you will be amazed when you find that your legs feel no different than when you started the day.

That is beauty of power assisted cycling.
